Professor Mark G. Kuzyk
  • Nonlinear Optics of Organic Materials
  • Fiber Optics in Polymer Fibers
  • Optical Devices
  • Theory of Nonlinear Response
  • Photonic and Quasiperiodic Crystals
  • Photorefraction in Thin Films and Fibers
  • Photomechanical Effects and Applications
  • Electrooptics
Recent sum-rule calculations show that nonlinear susceptibilities are bounded.  For more information, please check - M. G. Kuzyk, "Physical Limits on Electronic Nonlinear Molecular Susceptibilities," Physical Review Letters 85, 1218 (2000). Professor Kuzyk's Lab has unique facilities to make single mode polymer optical fibers.  The photograph above shows an endview of a single mode guide and the theoretical intensity profile.  See publication list for more info.

Professor Kuzyk's work on using sum rules to calculate quantum limitations of optical devices is featured in Circuits & Devices Magazine, September 2003 Issue.

Professor Kuzyk's theoretical work on the fundamental theoretical limit is driving new research around the world. His work has been highlighted in the press. Check the links below for more information.
