Pumpkins take a while to drop 12 stories . . . .

Sweetly seductive squishy squashes stream from skyscraper to splendidly slam, smash, or splat on sidewalks...

It has been fun so far, so we'll keep splatting vegetables! The Fourth Annual Pumpkin Drop from tall Webster Hall will occur on Dad's Weekend, Saturday, Nov 10, 2007, 11 a.m.. The third annual drop was, splat-tacular!

Join WSU mascot, Butch, and world famous scientist, Galileo, as the Physics and Astronomy Club re-enacts Galileo's famous Tower of Pisa Experiment, which established the Law of Falling Bodies. In the name of science, produce, and a good time, the re-enactment will try once again to prove that two unequal masses dropped at the same time will land at the same time, rather than the heavier one landing first. (Aristotle would be so ticked off!)

Please gather behind the safety barriers in the mall area between the Shock Physics Building and the east side of Webster. Be there! Rain or Shine!

Pumpkin Cam 2007 (wmv)

Here is the Pumpkin Cam movie from the 2nd Annual Drop, Nov. 5, 2005. (Yes, we wired up a pumpkin with a web cam. It's what we do. Is there anything the matter with that?)
Download it and play it:Pumpkin Cam. Alas, the 2006 Pumpkin Cam had a wee malfunction, so we didn't get pictures. That means there has to be a Fourth Annual Pumpkin Drop!
